Meet Your Teachers

Gentle Hands. Wise Hearts. Years of Experience.

At Held in Water, every teacher brings more than just certifications—they bring heart, presence, and deep respect for each child’s water journey. All of our instructors have years of experience working with children and have trained personally with Hannah in the unique, somatic, and connection-based teaching style that defines Held in Water.

Whether it’s a baby’s first splash or a five-year-old working on endurance, your child will be guided by teachers who honor each moment with care, patience, and joy.

Kate McBride

Lead Teacher

“Water is the classroom. Joy is the curriculum.”

Kate brings structure, warmth, and a nurturing presence to her classes. She teaches Semi-Private Beginner Classes (Ages 4–6). Her superpower is guiding kids through transitions—whether that’s taking turns, floating for the first time, or jumping in with confidence.

Founder & Lead Teacher

“Swimming begins with bonding.”

With 25+ years of experience in infant water safety, holistic health, and somatic therapy, Hannah leads all Parent & Baby and Semi-Private classes for children under 4. Her classes focus on trust, body awareness, and joyful connection—building muscle memory through daily water rituals and respectful play.

Madaket Greenleaf

“The water helps us remember what we already know.”

Madaket supports Hannah in July and leads her own classes in August. With a deep sensitivity to children’s needs, she excels at helping hesitant swimmers feel safe, seen, and celebrated. She teaches both Semi-Private and Group classes for ages 3 to 7.
